Visiting newbernsj.com today, you will notice some major changes to the design of our website. For one, load times should be reduced. We’ve removed widgets and other elements that slowed down the load time of the homepage. Also, we’ve made an effort to reduce the number of redundant links populating our menu at the top of the page. That should make finding what you want at our site a faster, more pleasant experience.
However, with every website redesign there’s bound to be some hiccups. That’s why we still consider the website to be in a beta state. If you notice any bugs or have comments about the new website, you can either email me or Managing Editor Randy Foster.
In other news, many may have noticed that the podcast has been on a hiatus. It should return next week. Between Hurricane Irene coverage and training a new print and night editor, I haven’t had enough time to produce a podcast. However, I am transitioning from a swing shift to a day shift, which takes a lot of the print-related workload off my back and will allow me to focus on the podcast as well as future online projects.
